Welcome back to Term 3

Mandy O'Sullivan —

We hope you had a restful school holiday. We are excited to have the children back for a busy and fun term.

Syndicate 1 would like to warmly welcome our new families joining us this term.

We would also like to welcome Kate Taylor (Whaea Kate) to our Syndicate 1 teaching team. Kate is our roll growth new entrant teacher in Piwakawaka.

We have several student teachers with us this term and we are looking forward to working alongside them as they develop their teaching practice.

The team have really enjoyed meeting parents at our learning conferences and are looking forward to meeting more of you in week 2. The conferences are a good opportunity to discuss your child's school report and answer or clarify any questions you may have. This is also an opportunity to discuss next steps in learning and share insights into your child's wellbeing. A reminder if you haven't booked a time with your child's Pastoral Care teacher, please do so.

How Do I Book My Whānau Conference Time?

Step 1 – Log on to http://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/

Step 2 – Type this code wf3jt into the green school code box.

Step 3 – Follow the prompts to select your child's year level, teacher etc.

Step 4 – Select an available time slot that suits you.

If you do not have access to the Internet, please call the office to book a time.

Reminders and Things to Note

The classrooms are open from 8.30am and your child will not be able to enter the classroom until this time.

Do not send your child to school if they are unwell. This is not in their best interest or in the interests of other tamariki. If your tamariki shows signs of being unwell, they will be sent to the Office who will contact you to pick them up.

Pick up times are 3pm on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri, and 2.30pm on Wed. Please ensure you are on time - students will be taken to Reception in the event that parents/caregivers are late.

Please ensure all personal items are clearly named. This includes clothing, lunchboxes and water bottles.

Safety vests are part of the school uniform and are to be worn to and from school. This is for your child’s safety.

Hair needs to be tied up if it is below shoulder length.

If your child wears a dress please ensure they have some shorts or bike shorts underneath to allow them to play fully in the playground.

Cold Weather

Ensure  your child comes to school with their polar fleece, cardigan and/or a jacket (all clearly named). We try to get the children outside into the fresh air as much as we can at break times but due to the Winter season, the children require warm layers of clothing for us to be able to do this.

Clothing

In year 0/1 please ensure your child has a ‘just incase’ change of clothes (all clearly named) in their bag. This does not need to be school uniform.

Food Allergy

We have students in Syndicate 1 with nut allergies.

We request that you do not include any food products with nuts in your child’s lunchbox. This includes peanut butter and Nutella. We appreciate your support in keeping all of our tamariki safe at school.
