Koru Games
Lincoln Primary - September 19, 2023
See below for a short summary of events over the last few days, and plenty of photos. This year's Koru Games saw some huge successes for our teams, but most importantly we saw our LPS values being carried through and akonga having a fantastic time.
Table Tennis
Both our boy's teams had successful pool play winning all but 1 game but just missed out on finals. Congrats to the Red and the Green team getting in the top 12 out of 22 teams!
Lawn Bowls
Our Mixed Lawn Bowls team of Luke and Ava played outstandingly at Koru Games, placing 2nd in their grade. Games were played with wonderful spirit as competitors helped each other and formed new friendships during the three days of competition. Awesome work team!
Badminton
We sent 3 badminton teams to Koru Games this year. Lincoln Green came 7th overall, Lincoln Red came 6th and Lincoln White placed 11th in the competition. Well done everyone.
Basketball
Our basketball teams had some positive results and represented our school values well. The team finished middle of the table and learnt some valuable skills in communication, breaking down defences by quick and accurate passing and sensible decision making. Well done to our basketball students.
Netball
The Year 7/8 Netball team were Runners Up in Koru Games. Congratulations girls, awesome result!
Thank you to Moana for coaching these girls.
The Year 8 team placed 4th which is a great achievement at this level. Well done girls.
A big thank you to all the supporters, managers and students who encouraged our teams over the 3 day tournament.
Rugby 7s
Our Rugby 7s team drew a very tough pool at the Koru Games. The boys played exceptionally well across three days of fierce competition and we finished with 5 wins and 2 losses for a final placing of 9th overall. Well done team, you should be really proud of your efforts!
Football
Lincoln Green finished middle of the table. Lincoln Red got into the final by winning 2-0 against the team they ended up facing in the final! Unfortunately not quite the same result and they lost 3-1, but of course came away with a silver medal! Amazing result!
Hockey
Congratulations to our Hockey Men's team which was 9th place, and our mixed team which was 4th overall!!
Tennis
Our Tennis team had a glorious few days in the sun. Huge congrats to the girls doubles team that took out second place!!
Ultimate Frisbee
Our ultimate frisbee team came 2nd in the competition! Well done team!
Volleyball
Our Y8 Girls Volleyball team made the quarter finals then played the highest ranking team in the table (Ashburton College) who had a convincing win against us and knocked the LPS volleyball team out of the competition. The weather was beautiful over the three days apart from some wind on the last day. Our students enjoyed being part of the Koru Games and have made friends with Korfball and Volleyball players from other school's teams. Most students said that they would love to be a part of this tournament again.
Korfball
Our two mixed Korfball teams had some good wins, losses and draws. They both finished in the middle of the table.
