News from Mahoe 2

Deb Phipps - March 23, 2023

In Māhoe 2 we have been focusing on making connections with one another.

Recently we have been celebrated our tamariki that are from South Africa. During this time Evan and Anna have had an opportunity to be experts in our space and share their experiences and knowledge. We even got to explore a variety of artefacts that were bought in. We have loved learning how to speak Afrikaans and we have appreciated learning all about the country and their culture.

We made passports to go to South Africa and made binoculars to observe the Big Five at Kruger National Park.

I went on safari. We saw big, tall giraffes. They had long necks. The giraffes were spotty and yellow. Also there were lions. They were drinking. Now it is time to see the buffalo. The buffalo were stomping and thumping. The elephants, they had long ears and they were gray. The birds were cheeping heavily. I wish I was an animal. By Anina

Woo hoo! Our teacher is taking us to Kruger National Park. We were going to Kruger National Park! The rolling hills were amazing. The grass was as yellow as the golden lions. The giraffes had big long necks that towered above all the trees. When we saw the elephants they had a long tail and ginormous, flappy ears. The zebras had black and white stripes. They looked like they were cheering for the ALL BLACKS! The buffalo had massive horns and hairy bodies. The wilderbeast were very camouflaged but we could still see them though. The antelope were resting. There was the loudest birds chirping ever! I wondered if the giraffes were as tall as my house. By Chelsea
