Emma Thorpe — Sep 22, 2022

My first teaching position was at Papakaio, a country school near Oamaru in 1994. I have taught in Oamaru, Christchurch, London and Lincoln.

In 2014 and 2015 I trained and became the Reading Recovery Teacher at Lincoln Primary School. At the end of 2015 Viv Butcher offered me an amazing opportunity to work with the gifted and talented children in our community, setting up the Gifted and Talented programme, Connecting Minds. I led the Connecting Minds programme for 5 years and loved being able to help children recognise and reach their potential.

In 2020 I returned to Lincoln Primary School teaching a Year 8 class and being the Team Leader for Syndicate Four. This year I look forward to being the Team Leader for Syndicate Two and working with the Year 3 and 4 students, helping them each individually reach their potential.

I have two sons, Henry and Albie. In my spare time I enjoy watching my sons play sport, being outdoors, exercise, family and camping with my boys.
