Miro News
In Miro we have been participating in the Miro Potato Olympics. Each student in Miro became a coach and was responsible for their own potato athlete.
The role of ‘Coach’ came with a job description:
1.) Provide your athlete with the correct preparation for the olympics.
This includes:
-A uniform
-A makeover (to help with relaxation)
-A player profile
2.) Help, coach and manage your potato as it goes through the different activities. As this is an international event, your potato MUST show amazing behaviour (respect, effort, determination)
3.) Collect data about your player and their performance to help you with your coaching. What will their strength be?
Then, we competed in different Olympic games including Spud Roll, Potato Dance, Spud Lifting and Potato Bowls. After each event, we recorded our results on a tally chart and then created a bar graph. After checking our results, we had our medal ceremony. The potatoes were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals while standing on the podium.

Student Voice:
Victoria - I enjoyed how we rolled our potatoes and spinned them.
Bill - I enjoyed that I won the potato dancer! I wasn’t happy that I spun it on its helmet, it hurt its head.
Brandon - I liked the spud roll because you got to roll your spud.
Amy - I liked the spud roll because we sat on chairs and watched everyone do their roll.
Charlotte - I liked weightlifting because I liked balancing stuff on the potato.
Eli - I liked that we got a second chance in the spud roll.
Iona - My favourite part was getting to draw on the potato to make our athlete.
