International Tournament of Minds

Lincoln Primary —

Last week on Thursday, Connor and I went to Sydney for the Tournament Of Minds International Finals. We competed in Primary STEM Section. There were ten teams including us competing in Primary stem, while we were waiting for the opening ceremony to start we got these badges of a kiwi holding the tournament of minds flag. We got to go and trade our badges with other people from different countries. Some of the countries  we got badges from were Australia and UAE. In the end Connor got sixteen badges and I got twenty badges.

There is something called a three hour challenge which is where we get locked in for three hours to do our challenge they gave us. Our challenge was to build a pendulum on a bridge so we could swing stuff across the bridge because the bridge was broken.

We constructed a pendulum, so it could get three different items/weights across the bridge.

It was a challenging exercise, but at the same time it was heaps of fun.

We also had to do a spontaneous challenge. This is when three judges come in and give us a task. We had 4 minutes to complete it and 1 minute to explain.

It was a lot of fun, to go  to Sydney to represent not only Lincoln Primary School, but also New Zealand.

Thomas & Connor

Connor: My favourite thing about the Tournament of Minds was getting to Trade Badges, And going to the aquarium.

The aquarium was really fun, there were so many sea creatures like The dugong, Its name was Pig and it was female.I got to see sharks and lots of stingrays.

Thomas: My favourite thing in the aquarium was seeing the moray eel, it was so cool it was hiding behind a rock and then it emerged and it was so scary because it had the sharpest teeth ever.
