Vision and Hearing

Vision and Hearing tests are carried out by the Vision and Hearing Testing Service at Burwood Hospital.

The testers visit school on a regular basis to carry out screening on new entrants, children requiring a retest, and absentees from the previous visit.

Children who do not pass the initial tests are retested after sixteen weeks and if necessary a referral letter is sent to parents for the child’s doctor.

Community Dental Clinic

The Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) operates a community dental clinic within the Lincoln Maternity Hospital grounds.

Primary School children will have their initial examination and/or xray at school, through the mobile dental service. Treatments are carried out at the clinic.

If a treatment appointment is necessary following examination, you will be contacted through the dental service. Preschool children may be enrolled at the age of 2½ years in order to receive this free service.

To contact the clinic to make an appointment, please call 0800 846 983.
