Introducing Times Tables Rock Stars and Numbots!
Kia ora, whānau!
We are excited to share that our tamariki have been diving into the world of Times Tables Rock Stars, an online programme that has been a hit in our classrooms! This engaging platform turns learning times tables into an epic adventure, and our students have been rocking it! Times Tables Rock Stars is designed to help students master their multiplication facts in a fun and interactive way. With a range of games and challenges, our kids are not only improving their maths skills but also building their confidence and speed with numbers. It's fantastic to see them so enthusiastic and eager to participate!
As our trial has been so successful, we have purchased a school subscription, and the TTRS program is now being used in Rakau (Y7-8) as well. Our Moana team (Y3-4) is also using the addition/subtraction version of the program, Numbots. Their students will begin with Numbots and transfer over to TTRS when they’re ready.
We encourage you to check it out at home and see the excitement for yourself. We recommend a “little and often” approach; 3 minutes of practice a day, 4 or 5 times a week, is a good target. Your child can log in and show you their progress. It's a great way to support their learning journey and have a bit of fun together as a whānau.
You can view their ‘information for parents document’ here.
Ngā mihi for your ongoing support and encouragement. Let's keep rocking those times tables!
Below are sample ‘heat maps’ from one of our Maunga classes. The first image is from 26/3 and the next is from 18/5! Look how that heat map has filled in!
Some of our gun ‘times-tablists’ that have ‘gone green’. That means they are now fluent in their times tables!
These awesome rock stars have made the most improvement in the number of correct answers since we began TTRS in our whole cohort! Legends!
