Congratulations to our Children's University Graduates
Last night was the first ever Children's University Graduation and some Prebbleton School children were lucky enough to be there.
The Town Hall was ablaze with black gowns, golds sashes and 2019 tassles as the Children's University held its first ever graduation ceremony.
Over the year a group of Year 4 children have chosen to participate in the Children's University, a programme that allows them to earn University hours by completing extra-curricular activities. The children were able to choose from a variety of opportunities such as visiting specified learning destinations, completing on-line challenges or attending events at both Lincoln and Canterbury Universities.
Prebbleton School had 30 children graduating. Our tamariki proudly took to the stage to receive their certificates which were presented by Professor James McWha, a former Vice-Chancellor and President of Adelaide University. The children received awards ranging from the Bronze National Award for earning over 30 hours to the Silver National certificate for earning over 165 hours.
Over the year, the children did a great job and it was a true display of our school values. They demonstrated Curiosity by learning a variety of new skills and knowledge, they showed Resilience by trying new things and they achieved Excellence by gaining their awards. Ka pai to the tamariki who participated, you all deserve to be very proud of your efforts and successes.
Seven Sharp even attended the event, filming some of the children celebrating their achievement. Click the link below to view a clip which follows the journey of one student and ends with the final stage of the graduation.
Thank you to Rachel McLaren for the lovely photos.
