We're all settled in for the term now, with plenty of class learning underway and many EOTC activities on while the weather is pretty good. Year 7s especially have had excellent outdoor water-based adventures. The Year 5s are having their turn this week, with fabulous activities planned over the three days.
Our Year 6 camp was certainly a life-learning experience this year. After starting off on the Wednesday morning, with great excitement and all the gear for three days at Living Springs, they were all back at school just after 9.00pm that same night. The fires that spread across the Port Hills that afternoon forced the decision that staying was not viable. Much credit to our teachers in charge, the parents, and the tamariki who took it all in their stride, despite their big disappointment. Lessons in resilience, staying positive, coping with the unexpected, and climate change can all be found in this turn of events.
Not long now until the Family Fun Day on next Sunday (3rd March)! This was such a fun time last year - do come along and enjoy the laid-back, friendly atmosphere. And please remember to help out with a donation of baking to be brought into school on the Friday prior.
