Mahi Tahi Olympic Day

Jo Craig —

Team 3-4, and the rest of the school, have had great fun today at our Prebbleton School Olympics.

The turn in the weather did not deter our tamariki and today they worked together in their Mahi Tahi groups to compete in the Prebbleton School Olympics.  Each group represented a different country.  It was great to see all of the different countries, flags and outfits during our opening ceremony, where each country paraded around the court to their national anthem.

A series of challenges then followed with two countries competing against each other.  The Prebbleton School sports included tug of war, egg and spoon race, bean bag toss, water relay, scooter board race and completing puzzles.  Points were allocated for wins, draws and losses.  It was great to see all of the mahi and how the tamariki certainly dug deep to try to win.

At the end of the day medals were awarded; congratulations to Argentina who won Gold, Greece who won Silver and Cuba who won Bronze. Thank you to the Kapa Haka group for performing at our closing ceremony.
