If Prebbleton kids were choosing the next government, it would be red!

We had a great turnout for our school election last Tuesday.  Students brought their 'easy vote' slips to the hall where an Issuing Officer marked them off on the roll and gave them their ballot paper.

Voter Assistants then directed the students towards a voting booth where they put two ticks on the ballot paper, one for their preferred party and one for the candidate.

Students in our whanau group had the option of voting on the General or Maori roll.

The Labour Party won (234 votes), National second (149 votes) and ACT third (78 votes) with smaller parties gaining less than 20 votes each. Interestingly, each Year Level results had the exact same pattern.

The winning candidate for the Selwyn Electorate was Labour's Reuben Davidson (163 votes), National's Nicola Grigg second (109 votes) and ACT's Stuart Armstrong third (64 votes).

Well done to everyone who voted yesterday and a big thank you to our  Year 7&8 Election Officers for running the event.

Here are some pics from the day...
