Kia ora e āku akonga, e ōku whānau whakahirahira hoki, tēnā koutou katoa.
Hello to all of our amazing children and wonderful Prebbleton families.
Ko Matua Steve ahau. Hi everybody, I’m Matua Steve.
What an absolute privilege and honour it is to be starting my third year at this kura.
I love coming in every day and being able to learn from and learn with the awesome, kind people who make up our learning community.
I’ve travelled a lot, taught in lots of different countries and have learnt many ways of understanding how people like to access their education. To help me continue to improve, I always embrace fresh critique as it allows me to see the ways others view a challenge. This helps me meet our shared task of creating success in learning by tying together our divergent perspectives.
Outside school…Piki ai māua ko tōku hoa rangatira i ngā puke-a-rohe ia ahiahi pō. He pai hoki ki a māua te hīkoikoi i roto i te ngāhere. I love to go walking all around the Port Hills with my wife and sons when they’re back in the country. I’m most at home on a good tramp up in the bush.
My job is to make sure our young learners get a great education. Ko taku mahi i tēnei tau he ako i a koutou, e te rangatahi, kia wātea ai te ara ki a koutou.
And to focus on connecting you to everybody else in our learning village. Ko te mea nui i roto i tēnei mahi kia whakakahatia te whanaungatanga o tō tātou whānau kura. Ki te mea ka tukua koutou kia koa, kia arohaina hoki ia rā ia rā, ka tipu ora koutou.
Being highly connected means you’re going to be surrounded in a big, warm blanket of aroha at our school and that’s a mission I dedicate myself to achieving every day.
