High-Five Challenge

Pip Macdonald —

How does it feel when someone gives you a high-five? You score a try at rugby and your teammates run up and high-five you or a teacher/boss glances over at your work and high-fives you. You feel instant empowerment, happiness, and a huge sense of pride. One small gesture can mean so much.

This week’s well-being blurb has been inspired by Mel Robbins who is an American lawyer, television host, author, and motivational speaker. She’s one of the leading voices in personal development and transformation. After listening to one of her podcasts, she motivated me to use her ‘High 5 Habit’ challenge with our students this week. Their task was to give themselves a high-five whenever they looked at themselves in the mirror. According to Mel, you deserve to high-five yourself too, not just others. Mel writes about how, ‘The High 5 Habit doesn’t change the circumstances of your life, but it can change how you show up and face those challenges. With more self-love, self-kindness, and self-compassion, what would change in your life?’

Encourage those at home, plus yourself to give the ‘High 5 Habit’ a go. If you would like to listen to her empowering podcast click on this link. The High 5 Habit & The Secret To Motivation w/ Mel Robbins EP 1170
