Team 1-2 News

Jo Neal —

We have welcomed a number of new tamariki this term. Selene, Livio and Hudson have joined Moana 3&4 and Ruby, Laura, Alex, Liam, George, Grace, Harlow, Ava and Darcy are all settled in Roto 1&2. A big welcome to Miss Anna Clothier too, now teaching in Roto.

On Tuesday the Team 1-2 tamariki joined the rest of the students at the Prebbleton Domain to showcase their fabulous resilience and community spirit to run in the Cross Country. It was wonderful to see everyone's 'can-do' attitudes and smiles as they gave their best effort to complete the race. Tino pai, tamariki! A huge thanks to our fantastic parents who volunteered to walk to and from the domain. This was a feat in itself!

The Roto tamariki have started their scientific investigations into Tuarangi (outer space). We turned ourselves into space explorers, also known as astronauts, and learnt lots of interesting new things on our journey through space. For example, did you know that the moon doesn't make its own light like stars do? The moon reflects light from the Sun! Have a look at the photos and you may see some of our space-themed creations.

Moana 1&2 have been exploring place value. They have been developing the understanding that the value of a digit depends on its place/position within the number. To demonstrate our understanding, they created expanding monsters. The tamariki chose a number, built the number with place value rods and then expanded the number. You can see a few examples of our monsters in the photos.

Moana 3 & 4 have been doing some special writing for Mother's Day. The tamariki were excited to write their favourite things about their mum and then film a video of them reading it. They shared their picture and recording on Seesaw for their whānau to see. It has been lovely for the kaiako to read all of the nice comments and feedback on our ākonga's posts.
