At the beginning of each term we host a mihi whakatau, a traditional Māori welcoming. We warmly invite you and your whānau to our mihi whakatau tomorrow Thursday, 12th October 2023 at 9:15 am. 

Our mihi whakatau welcome ceremony is our way of honouring our partnership with local rūnanga, Te Taumutu to welcome new ākonga learners, whānau families and kaimaihi staff. It is viewed as a process of removing the ‘tapu’ and making everyone ‘noa’ (equal). There will be kōrero speeches and waiata songs. The sharing of kai and drink is the final part of removing the tapu. We envisage that refreshments will be served around 9:40 a.m. We look forward to seeing you all there!
