Have you heard about our Learning Capabilities?

This year we are introducing our Learning Capabilities into our classrooms. These were developed in 2023 in consultation with our staff, students and community. We began our Learning Capability journey by looking at the original key competencies in the New Zealand Curriculum and how we could modify these to enhance the qualities of our Burnham learners. Through our consultation we have developed the Learning Capabilities of:

- Connected

- Resilient

- Thinker

- Learner

- Solutions

In 2024, staff have started to weave these capabilities into their teaching and learning programmes. Over the coming weeks you will hear your children talking about these Learning Capabilities as they are introduced and you will see more of these in our Hero learning posts. These capabilities embody everything we aspire to see in our learners and we are excited to see how they will be integrated into every classroom throughout the year.
