Pākihiroa Hub Update
I just want to say a massive thank you to all of our families for coming to our learning celebration evening last term. It was so good to see such a great turn out of parents, whānau and students. The students worked hard to prepare for this event, looking at what they wanted to share with you for Literacy and Mathematics. Taking the opportunity to record their learning and sharing on their sheets and together making a goal for their future. These are the shining stars of Rūma Ruru, Harakeke, Kererū and Kea!
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing parents get bossed around by their child as they tried to learn the same way as they do, letting go of the ‘old ways’ and learning strategically and collaboratively.
Here are a few of the highlights from our students -
“Having a hot chocolate, there was a yummy marshmallow in it. My favourite part was my Dad making a wish on my star.” - John
“After answering the questions I got to eat the popcorn!” - Jordan
“Showing my Mum and Nana how to make words with the dice.” - Ella-Grace
“I liked having to show my parents how to make words on the piece of paper.” - Heath
“Sharing the dice with Mum and Dad.” - Billie
“My favourite part was sharing the maths game with Mum and Nana.” - Maia-Lily
“I liked when we were reading the books to our parents because you get to show them what you can read.” - Amelia
“I liked when we got to decorate our stars with glitter, our parents wrote a wish on it. My whole family came!” - Gracie
“I liked doing the scavenger hunt and having to answer the questions.” - Ollie
