Proposal of New School Logo

Hiria Tibble —

After several months of consultation and feedback, we are thrilled to be able to share our first draft copy of our new school logo.

Our students, parents, whānau, staff and the community told us that it was important to create a visual representation our new vision, preparing and weaving our futures

So here it is! Our first proposal of a new logo with the meaning explained by Craig from School Branding Matters

At the heart of the logo is the future aspect of the vision as symbolised by the Harakeke Flax plant. The koru in the centre represents the child and also symbolises future growth in each individual.

The three harakeke flax leaves on both sides curl inward in a nurturing way that surrounds the koru (rito - child). On one side they represent our 3 learner actions of Respect, Effort and Pride and on the other, this symbolises the importance of all learners being supported by their parents, whānau and staff to be Empowered, Engaged and Equipped learners for the future.

The base of the logo symbol is a weave pattern. This is made up of our school values, principles, key competencies as well as embracing our two national curriculum documents (Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and the New Zealand Curriculum) being woven together to build a solid foundation.

The chosen colours reflect our place, our stories and have been linked to our school mural, Tū Te Raki Whanoa as the guardian/kaitiaki of our natural landscapes, including our waterways, mountains, winds and wildlife.
