Aquatics Skills - Years 1-6

Amy Trowbridge —

We are excited to be offering Aquatics Skills again this year at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre.

From Monday 13th May - Friday 24th May, students in Year 1-6 will be participating in daily Aquatics Skills sessions. During this time students will be learning fundamental skills in the water such as floating, kicking, freestyle and backstroke. They will also learn about water safety skills such as safe exit and entry from a boat, lifejackets, huddling together for warmth, towing others to safety.

Students will be travelling via bus and each lesson will be approximately 25 minutes in duration. For any students who started at Burnham after May 2023, please fill out this form for the Selwyn Aquatic Centre, so they can accurately group and assess your child in advance https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe--fYABR4sHZhOke2llc-kmsZ1utDLfNi6hxJNrjCztwJJTg/viewform.

The classes will be attending the sessions in the afternoons with 2 classes attending at any one time and class teachers will already have been in touch with whānau regarding specific needs of the learners.

Please speak to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns about these sessions.
