Uniform/Dress

Students are expected and encouraged to take pride in their general appearance. All students must wear the school uniform, which enhances school identity, provides good quality economical clothing, and eliminates problems of clothing competitiveness.

Here is the complete list for all Burnham School new uniform items as well as the standard school uniform items for all learners in Years 0-8 that will be available through NZ Uniforms:

Years 0-6 Uniform

Years 7-8 Uniform

All uniform items can now be purchased from NZ Uniforms Online.

Burnham School staff will advise students of appropriate uniform required that is suitable for school outings. No variations on school uniform items are accepted.

Hair that is longer than shoulder length should be tied back. Hair should be in natural colours, and no hats are to be worn inside.

Footwear must be suitable for school, i.e., no jandals, scuffs, crocs, slip-ons, jellies, platforms, pulps, street or skate shoes. Suitable footwear includes neutral coloured cross trainers or sandals, and/or black shoes. Plain navy or white ankle or below the knee socks are acceptable to wear with shoes.

At the discretion of the teachers and the board of trustees the consequences of breaching the dress code begin with the teacher speaking to the student about the breach. Parents/caregivers will receive written notification of the breach and will need to sign and return this to the classroom teacher. Continued non-compliance will involve confiscation. Confiscated items must be collected by parents/caregivers. A meeting between the board, principal, or deputy principal and the parents will be set to discuss the necessary steps should non-compliance continue. Please refer to the school's formal discipline plan.

The school accepts that on occasions named clothing goes missing and parents are required to inform the classroom teacher in writing. If an item remains lost it must be replaced in four weeks.
