REP Learner Actions
Have you heard about our new school acknowledgement system?
In 2024, we have developed a new school wide system for acknowledging positive behaviour - This is called the Learner Action Award. Each student has their own Learner Action Award displayed in their classroom with 40 squares on the back.
The main idea is to earn stickers/stamps or signatures on each square. Along the way students can earn mini rewards, such as 5 minutes early to morning tea or assisting the teacher in another classroom. Students can earn up to 4 stickers/stamps within a week. Once all of the squares are filled, students will earn a big reward at the end. There are 3 Learner Action Awards to complete throughout the year.
Once each Learner Action Award has been filled the students will earn the following acknowledgements:
Big Reward 1: Ribbon (to be displayed in class or at home)
Big Reward 2: Wristband (to wear at school)
Big Reward 3: Badge (to wear on school uniform)
To earn the stickers/stamps the students must ensure they consistently:
- Demonstrate the Learner Actions (Respect, Effort, Pride - REP) at all times.
- Demonstrate the School Values (Manaakitanga, Kotahitanga, Whanaungatanga, Tiakitanga, Rangatiratanga) at all times.
This acknowledgement system has been created alongside our learners and their input has been valuable to ensure all students are being acknowledged for their positive behaviour.
If you know of somebody in our community or if you are a local business owner/you work for a company that may interested in potentially providing some sponsorship towards the cost of the wristbands or badges, please contact amytrowbridge@burnham.school.nz. We would be proud to display your sponsorship details on our second and third Learner Action Awards for the year.
