Kia ora,

My name is TeAnna Hema. I am 32, married and have four tamariki, three of whom are attending Tuahiwi Kura.

We moved here from Kaikoura 3 years ago and live at Pines Beach.

I am currently a tutor for an organization Pounamu Kahuraki.

We deliver quality therapy based Taha Maori program to men, woman and the youth prisons here is Otautahi.

I am also a business owner/operator for Ahurea-Culture for you LTD.

My previous employment is mainly in the education sector, I worked 11 years in ECE, I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in early childhood. It was there I found my passion for learning and teaching. I grasped a good understanding of young children and their developmental stages and needs.

ECE lead me to other areas of mahi, I became the lead facilitator for Incredible Years Parenting Programs.

I also went on to open Kaikoura’s first Puna Reo.

I have had previous experience on a variety of boards. I was acting chairperson for Te Puna Reo O Hapuku. I served as a parent representative for Lynton Downs Primary School and sat as a trustee for Te ahi Wairua O Kaikoura. I have attended board trainings and am very familiar with responsibility in terms of a board member.

I am looking forward to working alongside our school board and team to achieve the goals the whānau, teaching staff and board establish together. Specifically, I am interested in supporting and developing a community of students whose wellbeing and learning potential is maximized.
