Pukapuka Project
Mel Taite-Pitama - May 8, 2022
The purpose of the research is to investigate opportunities that place based pūrākau create in rua and rūmaki classrooms.
We are holding three wānanga to give whānau the opportunity to share their stories about Tuahiwi, growing up in Tuahiwi or anything that they would like to contribute to our kaupapa. These stories will be recorded by The University, transcribed and then turned into scripts which will eventually be turned into stories for our tamariki. The stories will be in Te Reo Māori and bilingual (English and Māori).
Our first hui will be an information hui held at Tuahiwi Marae from 9:30 am – 2 pm on Saturday 14 May with a pōwhiri for the researchers of UC beginning at 9:30am. If you would like to be involved and to share your kōrero please come along! Morning tea and lunch will be catered.
On the 14th of May we will be sharing in whanaungatanga and the university facilitators will deliver a presentation and answer any questions you might have. If you have whānau that are interested in illustration we would love your attendance at this hui too. This is an exciting project for the benefit of our ākonga but also a wonderful taonga for our marae.
We look forward to meeting with you on the 14th May at the marae.
