Staff Changes 2021
Next year we have several changes in staffing and while we can't 100% promise that this will remain the same we can share some exciting news. Please remember that this is all subject to things going well and to plan!
Next Year we will have 5 classes in Puaka. This means that the configuration will look like this:
Year 0-1 (Rachael )
Year 2-3 (Position advertised now)
Year 4-5 (Toi Te Whata)
Year 5-6 (Crisanna)
Year 7-8 (Kate)
Whitireia will retain the 3 classes. The level of immersion for Whitireia tamariki is 50 -80% which means that much of the day is taught in Te Reo Māori.
Year 0-2 ( Andrea)
Year 3-5 (Awhina)
Year 6-8 ( Kiwhakiwha)
Whaea Jess, our deputy tumuaki will not be teaching a class next year. She will be fully released to teach in all classes as a release kaiako where she will be teaching a creatives programme. She will also cover release for those kaiako that have extra responsibilities. This is wonderful news for our kura and our tamariki as Jess has many skills that will benefit all.
Whaea Anita has taken up a position in a team teaching model at Ashgrove Primary School next year. We have been very lucky to have Anita with us for two years while she has been completing her provisional registration. We will miss Anita and her kind, humorous nature but we wish the absolute best as she embarks on her new journey as a fully registered kaiako.
We are excited to announced that Whaea Awhina will return to Tuahiwi Kura after her year away on study leave. Whaea Awhina will be teaching in Whitireia. How lucky are we to have her returning home!
We have recently appointed a beginning teacher who will teach in the Year 4-5 class in Puaka. Toi Te Whata will be an excellent addition to our team and has vast experience in working with tamariki. He is also really interested in Digital Technology and the arts.
We have advertised a Fixed Term position for the Year 2-3 class in Puaka. This closes on November 20th. We can announce this appointment after then.
I have put many hours of thought into the staffing and think that this team has huge potential to continue the great work of 2020. I hope you join me in celebrating how far we have come since 2018 when I arrived and had 5 classes. We now have 8!
I know that some of you have anxiety when a classroom kaiako changes however this happens in every school and is inevitable as your child goes through the years.
Over the next few weeks we will be working out which classrooms will house which levels and which class your child might be in come 2021. We will share this with you in December.
