Tumuaki Update
E mihi ana ki a koutou katoa te whānau o Te Kura o Tuahiwi! An extended acknowledgement of aroha to our Brennan whānau this week as they buried their father, Poua and brother yesterday in our village urupā, Te Urutī. Kāore i ārikarika i te aroha ki a koutou.
Our kaiako are becoming more and more confident working online and sharing work that is achievable and realistic with tamariki. In return, we have many tamariki sharing their learning on multiple platforms depending on which one is easiest. Tau kē tamariki mā.
Our kaiāwhina are also working hard in the background and sometimes in the front by preparing, supporting and leading learning too. I hope you have all had time to tune into Tunu Kai with Nush or Wā Workout with Jhai over the past couple of weeks. If you haven't, give it a click and watch, you might be surprised by how much your tamariki enjoy it.
Every morning at 9.30am we have had karakia via zoom. This is a time for your tamariki to connect and see other tamariki. We have had anywhere between 25-50 tamariki online at once. Please join us if you can so your tamariki can reconnect with their friends and kaiako. Whaea Berniece is usually on karakia to so your get to see her smiling face as well!
After karakia tune in to our daily waiata session on the Tuahiwi School Facebook page. This has been popular as well and we have had reports that our tamariki have been singing up a storm at home joining in with the kaiako online.
At 11am we have had a shared pukapuka. Most of the time this is pre recorded so you can watch and listen at any time of the day if you don't get time at 11am. There is always as activity to do after the pukapuka as well.
At 12pm we have a kaiako teaching Te Reo Māori. A great opportunity for whānau to be learning Te Reo Māori together. Our kaiako are experts in teaching so its achievable for any level. Karawhuia e hoa mā.
A lastly at 1pm we have either wā workout with Jhai and Whaea Bex or Tunu Kai with Nush. Learning how to make yummy food and then work it off by joining in on the workout! A win win situation. :)
Each kaiako has their own class facebook now and there are lots of activities and chances to join in with live feeds or zoom hui. The pick n mix that every kaiako has sent out can be completed over the week and mahi shared via email or facebook.
I know for some of you getting to the mahi online has been challenging and continues to be something that worries many of you because you may not be getting to support your tamariki how you would like. Try to find a little time in the day to sit down and have a look at what there is to do but if you don't get to it set a goal to get to it the next day if you can. This week the pick n mixes should be aimed at our tamariki being able to do most activities on their own without much help.
We are in challenging times and as a friend said to me yesterday whilst we are all in the same storm we are in different waka trying to navigate the storm. For some of our whānau this must be a terribly tough time and a stressful one. Kia kaha koutou and don't forget to lean on us for support if you need to.
We are now at the end of week 3 and next week we will be back online with our school wide mahi and classroom mahi too. Our kaimahi miss you all and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
