Ngā Uara - Tuahiwi School Values
At Te Kura o Tuahiwi we are guided by our aura/values. Please read more about our values in the article so that you are aware of what we expect everyone to uphold.
Every morning our tamariki and kaiako learn about our values in karakia. Each value has a hand action to help our tamariki to remember and learn about the essence of our values. Ask your tamaiti to show you our hand actions for the values.
This term the value that we are focussing on is Kaitiakitanga. This means guardianship. Each day we have a saying that goes with the value so that our tamariki know the meaning and examples of kaitiakitanga not just the word.
We expect our tamariki, whānau and kaiako to be upholding our values all the time and we will talk to our tamariki if we see they are not.
We also have Manaakitanga tickets for tamariki that are showing manaaki. They can take these tickets to the office and put them in a box until the end of the week when names are drawn out as Manaakitanga winners. These winners are able to choose a treat from a box of 'goodies'. You could ask your tamaiti if they received any manaakitanga tickets and see what they say.
We love it when whānau reiterate our uara at home. This helps our tamariki to continue their learning at home.
