Mātua Tautoko (Parent Support - PTA)

Tuahiwi School - June 8, 2022

Mātua Tautoko is the PTA for Tuahiwi School, and our main aim is to help fundraise for kura, to be able to access all the extras that every school needs.

To date, through our fundraising efforts, we have been able to purchase sports equipment, art supplies, contribute to our Year 8 leavers activities, the end of year celebrations, provide warm sports jackets for outside events, contribute to camp costs, plus much more!

Our fundraising activities are:

  • The Kapahaka festival (usually in Term 3) – this is well supported by our whānau with donations of baking and items for raffles.

  • Easter Raffles - whānau donate Easter items which make great hampers

  • Jingo Night - a great family night and lots of fun

  • Matariki Disco - the money raised from this will go towards the seniors camp

We will be holding our AGM at the end of this month (June) (Date TBA).

What this means is that we need some new members to join the team!

At the AGM, we would elect a co-ordinator, a secretary who can minute meetings for us, a treasurer and committee members who can help with the organising of our activities.

We generally have meetings prior to any fundraising activities that we need to organise.

This is such an integral part of school, and it really doesn’t take much time.

Keep an eye out on the School Facebook page for the meeting time/day, and you can also join our Facebook Page Mātua Tautoko - Te Kura O Tuahiwi and you can see our past activities.

Our current members are: Katie Johnson (Chair), Tracey Tauwhare (Treasurer) and myself (committee member) - so come and see us if you have any questions :-)
