Te Kura o Tuahiwi 160 Jubilee/ Whānau Day
This year marked 163 years since the opening of Te Kura o Tuahiwi/ Tuahiwi School. We celebrated with a day based around our tamariki, whānau and hapori.
Hail, rain, sun and wind- it all came to the party on Tuesday when we opened our doors to celebrate 160 years of Te Kura o Tuahiwi!
Kapa Haka performances, talent quests, musical items and beautifully decorated akomanga, whānau, past students and a MASSIVE paramanawa to mihi to our amazing whānau who tautoko whenever they can made for a day filled with love, laughter and..... wet shoes!
Having to cancel the bouncy castles due to the rain forecasted, we were lucky to get tautoko from our awesome whānau and staff, helping to put up our new gazebos so that there would be shelter when needed. It was a packed house all day!
Our special rūma maumahara had nostalgia in spades as whānau, past and present, gathered to reminisce over their past kaiako and class mates. Huge mihi atu to Keriana Thompson for the beautiful decoration of our rūma, using her pūkenga to bring it all together.
Our tuākana also got together with Poua Ivan to watch the video from The Hui where their visit to the awa was captured and shared. Mihi atu hoki ki a Uncle Ivan for the tuangi he cooked up with lashings of garlic butter and finely chopped chives.
Sorry Whaea Nush, you didn't manage to catch one of the huge hail stones but you did manage to take a great photo out there in the middle of it all.
Aroha ki te tangata, te tuahiwi ki te whai ao!
