Last Thursday, we celebrated Matariki in style together, sharing in activities and enjoying Manu Kōrero.

Last Thursday, we headed to the marae to celebrate all things Matariki in conjunction with the inaugural Matariki public holiday. We started the day by welcoming those new to us at the marae with a mihi whakatau. We then had a fabulous day exploring Matariki and what it means through a variety of activities. The tamariki enjoyed decorating star biscuits, making kites, mau rākau, tā moko, bubbles, whetū making, raranga harakeke and creating clay uku tangi. We were so proud of our tamariki showcasing all of our uara all day long! To finish off we had our Manu Kōrero finalists speak at the end of the day! The quality of speakers was very high and showed just how well our tamariki are able to perform under pressure, sharing ideas about their culture and values. Ngā mihi to those that showed up to tautoko our day - we appreciate you.

Just another fabulous day at Tuahiwi Kura. Mānawatia a Matariki!
