Tuahiwi School

Hard to believe that it’s already March, and we’ve made the change from Summer to Autumn - definitely cooler in the mornings, but also at night, which makes it easier to sleep. If you are interested in what our Board of Trustees is up to please read the article.

Kia ora koutou

The Board has already had two meetings this year and as always, we’ve had some great discussions. Our kaiako have been in to give us updates on the tamariki and their learning progressions, which is always beneficial to us and our ability to categorise where our resources need to go.

You will have seen a few people walking around with their hi-vis vests on, as mentioned at Hui Tamariki last week. We are in the process of getting quotes and timelines for a few projects that will be happening by mid-year (hopefully in the Term 2 holidays). These include our perimeter fencing, a double garage to keep our van out of the elements, and a storage shed/resource room. So, lots of projects on the go this year, which is great news.

We have some extra funds available to spend this year, which is great for our kura, but there is a lot on our wishlist, so choosing what to spend it on will be a difficult task. Watch this space because we will want your thoughts.

One of our Parent Reps, Steve Biggins, has had to step down from the Board, so we have a casual vacancy coming up. Ngā mihi nui to Steve for his tautoko over his time on the Board.

The Board of Trustees is a representation of our kura community, so with Steve leaving, we would ideally love for a parent from our Whitireia classes to fill the vacancy. However, all expressions of interest are most welcome. Please don’t hesitate to kōrero with either myself or Mel if you would like to know more.

Not to brag, but we’re a pretty cool Poari, who are all here to tautoko Tuahiwi Kura where we can, as we all bring different skills and attributes to the table.

So that’s all our news to date - lots of planning going on and always something happening, which is awesome to see.

I love coming into school everyday and seeing all of your gorgeous tamariki - always smiling or laughing and always with a kia ora Whaea :-)

Ngā mihi nui

Rebecca Stevenson
