Dot Singh - March 23, 2023
The term has flown by and our tamariki have been busy working on their inquiries, going on haerenga to visit our freshwater lakes and rivers and frolicking in the wai at the groynes. They have also been busy the past few weeks practicing kapahaka.and our tuākana have started learning a new poi and haka.
Our kura is growing extremely quickly and we have had many new enrolments over the term. We have had new classrooms arrive to cater for the growth and they are beautiful.
At the moment they are being prepared with electricity, plumbing, wifi and other necessities in order to be ready for our tamariki in term 2.
We are very grateful and thankful for the new learning spaces and look forward to utilising them in the near future.
There will be a blessing and opening for the new akomanga and we will inform you all so you can be a part of the celebration.
As you all know last week we took industrial action by striking.
Our tamariki need a quality education. And we want to give that to them. Unfortunately, the funding for our schools is not enough for us to give us the time we would like to support all our kids to thrive.
Thank you for your support and understanding as to the why.
The next two weeks will fly by and I just want to mihi to all of our whānau for your tautoko and continuous support.
Just to remind whānau that Kapahaka and Winter sports for Year 5-8 is compulsory as is a core part of our curriculum.
