Tēnā tātou ngā whānau o Wilford School

As part of our Mahere Rautaki (Strategic Plan) 2024-25 we committed to improving our physical environment, so that learning and play are supported by quality facilities that reflect pride in our kura.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured funding for:

  • an all-weather bike track around the main field, supported by the Bike On NZ Charitable Trust, and

  • a fleet of 30 bikes and helmets for tamariki use, supported by Taka Trust and Ride Holidays NZ.

This has been made possible by hard work from Ailsa, Linda, Kathryn and the Kaiwhakangao Fundraising Group. We are also grateful to Sherie Wright and the team at Hutt City Council, who helped us secure the funding

Construction is expected to start in the second half of the year. We are currently working with track builders on designs that will reflect our dual medium identity and will share these once they are available. In the meantime, you can send ideas and suggestions to playspace@wilford.school.nz.

A range of other work is underway, including:

  • critical repairs to perimeter fencing and the school pool

  • grant applications for new all-weather courts and new sports equipment

  • progress toward concept designs for a future learning and play area.

Keep an eye out for information about these projects in the school newsletter

Progress on improving our physical environment is down to a small group of dedicated whānau volunteers and kaimahi who are doing unpaid work to support the different projects. We can go faster with more help. If you want to get involved, please email kaiwhakangao@wilford.school.nz.
