That's week 8 done, now there's just 2 more weeks until the school holidays. Read on to find out about the Kimi Ora Satellite class and to keep up with all our fundraising activities.

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa

This week was a particularly busy one for Ngā Rangatahi with their second day of snorkelling at Taputaranga Marine Reserve where they got to see some of our most amazing marine life. Ngā mihi nui to our wonderful volunteers who got in the water and made this adventure possible.

Year 6s were then back on the bus the very next day to find out more about what happens to our rubbish and recycling. Year 5s will do that same trip next week. The rest of us back at school made the most of some great days riding bikes on our track and playing footy on the courts.

Hui o te Kura

Assembly

We hold our Hui o te Kura every Paraire morning at 9.15am. Mātua are always welcome to join us for some waiata and to celebrate those who've earned a MĀRA certificate.

We had a special guest at today's Hui o te Kura. Conor McCarthy spoke about his experiences respresenting New Zealand at the Special Olympics in Germany. Conor's message was about not giving up even though there are ups and downs.

Omatahora

Cross Country

By now all tamariki should know the cross country route they'll be taking at our Omatahora in a couple of weeks. Encourage your tamaiti to give it their best shot and perhaps even do some extra training with them.

Kaitiaki o Te Kura

School Caretaker

James' last day is Tūrei next week. We are currently advertising for a new caretaker. If this could be you, or you know someone keen to apply, see details on our website.

Ka taea e koe te āwhina i a mātou?

Are you able to help us?

Working Bee - Rātapu - 10.30-12.30pm

We've got our working bee happening on Sunday between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Even if you haven't signed up, you can still come along to help tidy up our gardens or possibly do a spot of paint work.

There are plenty of other ways to help out around the school if gardening and painting aren't your thing; here's a brief list...

  1. Road Patrol: parent helpers are needed to supervise road patrol both before school and after school (ask at the office)

  2. Garden Club: garden club at lunch times (contact Whaea Ropene)

  3. Chess Club: our keen chess players would love to play at lunch times in the winter months but need an adult to help.

  4. Centenary Celebrations: We are looking for an event organiser to plan this party!

  5. Te Rōpū Tiaki Whānau: express your interest (if you haven't already) to be part of this group that finds ways to support our whānau in need.

  6. Kaiwhakangao is our fundraising group. There's a large team helping already, but there's always room for more. If you'd like to get involved with Kaiwhakangao activities, let us know.

We understand that whānau lead busy lives and not everyone can be 'hands on' with helping out. We very much appreciate hapori support with our fundraising. Remember to get your Easter Goodies order in and to get your Dogman movie tickets.

Kia pai to rā whakatā e te whanau!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Noho ora mai koe i roto i nga manaakitanga
