Koru Games 2025

Sport Coordinator (Pip Deans) —

Wrap up for 2025

Day 1
What an amazing start for our Year 7 and 8 students at this year’s Koru Games! DHS had 268 students competing in 31 teams across 16 sports, supported by over 40 senior students who stepped up to coach, umpire, and referee, alongside 15 staff covering five venues. This year’s Koru Games brought together 480 teams from 67 schools across the South Island. It was a brilliant first day filled with energy, smiles, new friendships, and memories in the making.

Day 2
Another fantastic day! Our students showed great sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination while having a whole lot of fun (and let’s be honest, anything beats being in the classroom in Week 10 😁). Spirits were high heading into the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. Good luck to all our teams!

Day 3 – That’s a Wrap! 🏅
What an outstanding three days of sport, fun, friendship, and fierce competition. A huge thank you to the Selwyn Sports Trust for the incredible mahi that goes into making this event such a success.

We loved watching our students give it their all across so many sports — representing DHS with pride, making memories, and showing what it means to be part of our team. The scoreboard results were mixed, but for us it’s all about participation, teamwork, and growing together.

⭐ Special congratulations to our Dodgeball team, who came home with a bronze medal!

From 7LD - what it means to our students

Koru Games were such an incredible experience! Not only did we get to verse other teams, but we also had the excitement of meeting new people and working together towards our team’s goals. We all had an amazing time playing our sports, supporting one another, and most importantly, having fun. What an unforgettable adventure!

A massive thank you to everyone involved — staff, volunteers, organisers, coaches, supporters, and our wonderful senior students who guided and supported our younger teams.

👏 Thank you also to our sponsors — Kiwi Gaming Foundation, Malvern Lions, and Tranzit — for helping us get there, and to NZ Uniforms for our special Koru Games tops. They looked amazing, helped us stand out from the crowd, and gave our students that extra sense of pride.
