Rehua Marae Friday 29 July 2022

On Friday 29 July, five DHS tauira Māori went to Rehua Marae in Christchurch to attend the Youth Peace Symposium held by Te Pou o Rongo. There we were welcomed onto the Marae in a formal pōwhiri alongside rangatahi from schools all around Canterbury. We listened to speeches about peace, and how we could potentially incorporate their messages into our own school. We had a hangi for lunch, and got to meet and talk to students from the other schools. It was a great experience, and we can now take some of the messages (such as have a hui then do the do-ey and accept every challenge and opportunity) and use them in our own lives.
