Tōkona Te Rāki
On Wednesday 28 June we were privileged to go on a trip to Te Whare o Te Waipounamu to meet with other ākonga from schools around our area. We took part in a think tank called Tōkona Te Rāki led by two Ngāi Tahu employees named Kaya and Tainui. We learnt about streaming and its effects on ākonga from primary school through to university. We also got the opportunity to feature on the Tahu FM radio station where we were interviewed about the kaupapa of the day. It was a great experience to hear and share about how everyone felt about a topic that most rangatahi have experienced even though it’s not often talked about. We also left with a koha including some cool Ngāi Tahu merch.
