The Hot Shots basketball team has done it again! Going unbeaten all season, the talented group of girls has claimed their division title in style, continuing an incredible run that now stretches over two seasons without a single loss.

What makes this team so special is its versatility. Many of the girls bring skills from other sports, and their ability to transfer those into basketball is nothing short of outstanding. On court, they give it everything, working as one cohesive unit with energy, determination, and plenty of flair.

In the final, the Hot Shots faced Rangiora High School and delivered a commanding performance, securing a decisive 64–31 victory. Alyssa Clarkson led the scoring with an impressive 31 points, followed by Libby Clarkson with 10, Maggie Macpherson with 9, Lilyana Cullen with 8, Isla Swords with 4, and Isla Messerer adding 2 points.

While the scoreboard shows plenty of individual contributions, the real story was in their defense. From one end of the court to the other, the Hot Shots displayed relentless pressure, teamwork, and commitment that shut down their opposition and created opportunities for one another.

This group of athletes have proven once again that when talent, teamwork, and determination combine, remarkable things happen. 

A strong team is built not only on the players, but also on the support crew behind them — and the girls certainly had one of the best. A huge thank you to Pip, to the sponsors, to the parents who helped with transport, and to the supporters who turned up each week to cheer the team on throughout the season. 

A very special acknowledgement goes to Amanda and Hamish Clarkson, whose dedication went above and beyond. Week in and week out they showed up, coached, transported, and encouraged the girls with tireless energy and enthusiasm. The team’s achievements this season are a true reflection of the talented athletes that hit the court and the support surrounding them.
