Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori Celebrations

Louise Blakemore —

Celebrations this week started with rock painting in the library. The students were painting images to represent the new gifted block names.

In Whānau time students were treated to a kahoot on basic Māori words. The kapa haka performed a bracket with waiata and haka to the Year 7 and 8 students.

The group of students who have been learning mau rākau for the past few weeks gave a demonstration of what they have learnt.

The Education Perfect Whakataetae saw lots of students and staff in the school getting involved with over 29,000 questions being answered. Congratulations to our winners: Year 11-13 James Cathcart, Year 9/10 Charlotte Cathcart and Year 7/8 Izzy Hopkins.

Thursday saw some students and staff learn how to make a putiputi | flower using harakeke.

On Friday there will be a scavenger hunt using the rocks that were painted on Monday.
