Bus Route Changes
Information regarding these changes have been emailed to all families on the affected bus routes. Please contact the school if you have not received this communication.
From 2024, the school zones set out by the Ministry of Education come into effect in regards to our bus transportation area. In Term 1 of 2017, when Rolleston College opened, the Ministry gave students already enrolled in Darfield High School and Lincoln High School in 2017 an arrangement to continually receive a place on our funded bus services until they finished Year 13.
In our case, this meant that any student from the West Melton area (or in the newly appointed Rolleston College enrolment zone), and enrolled at Darfield High School as a Year 7 after 2017 or from 2018, was ineligible for School Transport assistance. As a Directly Resourced school, we could still convey these students but the agreement finishes in Term 4 2023. From 2024, no transport will be provided or funded for those who live outside of Darfield High School’s enrolment zone, meaning we will not be able to continue with some of our current bus routes in their entirety.
These changes result in the Aylesbury, Gainsborough and West Melton bus routes being reduced as we can only drive our buses as far as Sandy Knolls Road. The Gainsborough bus will complete an altered route which will potentially be deleted in the future if student numbers reduce.
Following are the current maps of these bus routes with their new routes from 2024. We have estimated the times these buses will reach one intersection on the bus: these bus routes and times will be updated closer to the end of this year and published on the school website.
