A busy week showcasing kotahitanga | unite our community

"Kia ora and welcome to Darfield High School. Here you will learn new things, meet supportive teachers, wonderful students, and discover things you have yet to discover." announced Year 7 student, Saphia Ridgen, in her welcoming speech to next years propsective students.

Our two open events took place Wednesday and Thursday with Thursday also encompassing our Matariki mid year celebration which gave an added buzz and vibe around the grounds.

Student speakers, Saphia Ridgen and Daniel Mead represented Year 7, whilst head students, Mason Thompson, Mackenzie Butler, Blakely Bruce-Sheppard and Liam Morris took turns summarising 7 years of schooling here. Mr England introduced the Year 7 and 8 teaching team and staff showcased classrooms, highlighting particular parts of our curriculum on a brief tiki-tour of the school by our wonderful Year 12 Peer Supporters.

Matariki highlighted our students artwork, music talents, kapa haka, showquest, Year 10 and 12 commerce and business studies markets. Our wellbeing, sport and culture committees promoted the activities they are involved in. And a great deal of pumpkin soup and fried bread was consumed!
