Polyfest 2026 and Moana Vā
We’ve got some exciting opportunities coming up to celebrate and showcase our amazing Pasifika cultures and we’d love for you to be a part of it!
First up: Polyfest 2026!
This is a performance-based event where we get to represent our Pasifika pride on stage at Hagley Park next March. We’ll be teaming up with other Selwyn schools to create one powerful team! Practices will start early next term, and to kick things off, Rolleston College will be performing for us during Tongan Language Week – that’s just two weeks away! Keep an eye out for posters and school notices with more info.
We have also been invited to participate in a brand-new event called Moana Vā, happening on the 19th of August. It’s an evening of celebration with performances, speeches, and shared kai - all focused on connecting our Pasifika students and families across Selwyn.
We’re looking for students who are keen to step up and represent by creating a performance or preparing a speech to share on the night. This is a great chance to celebrate your culture, build confidence, and connect with our wider Pasifika community. If you’re willing to commit to performing or speaking, we’d love to hear from you!
Whether you're keen to perform, speak, or just get involved – email or come see Mrs Talia'uli (bta@darfield.school.nz) or our cultural leaders Laura and Wharetutu (headofculture@darfield.school.nz) to sign up or find out more. Let’s make our voices heard and our cultures shine – come and be part of something special!
