DHS Equestrian Interschool One Day Event 2024

Jo Beswick —

DHS had two teams of four entered at the Secondary Schools One Day Event. One Day Events combine the disciplines of dressage, show jumping, and cross-country riding. The day started of with very heavy fog which didn't deter our riders they showed up and tacked up ready to take on the challenge of the day.

The riders and horses gave it their all and represented DHS with pride. We had one Team sitting in 5th after dressage which is a fabulous position to be in going into show jumping and cross country. Unfortunately one of our riders had a terrible fall in the cross country phase resulting in a broken collar bone eliminating this team from the competition. Our other team were steady throughout the three phases and finished 9th out of 23 teams and were only 13 Teams that finished the day with live scores. It was a challenging track and tested the riders. DHS riders are a tough group of riders who love a challenge and do not shy away. There were many moments I wanted to put my hands over my eyes and not watch, they are brave, bold and an awesome bunch to take to events.

For DHS Equestrian success is not just about winning but also about the journey of growth and partnership with your equine companion. Enjoying the journey and embracing the challenges. Building on relationships and making memories in the sport we love.
