Duke of Edinburgh Award - Adventurous Journey SUCCESS!!

To achieve bronze level for the Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award, students who sign up need to do an hour a week of a physical (sporting) element, a skill, and of voluntary service, as well as a practice and a qualifying Adventurous Journey (so two (separate), overnight expeditions). This week, the 15 Duke of Edinburgh Award students completed their practice journey.

This week, students who signed up to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Hilary Award participated in the Adventurous Journey element of their award.

“On Monday morning we started our 4 and a half hour tramp to Woolshed Creek Hut. When we arrived, we walked to the water caves about 20 minutes from the hut and had a refreshing swim. After a long day of walking everybody had cooked their dinner and were ready for bed.

The next morning we left the hut early. It was a long hard walk up a steep mountain with lots of rocks to navigate. The wind was blowing everybody off their feet!! By the time we made it back to the vans everyone was ready to go home. This trip grew all of our leadership skills and confidence as well as it being an amazing experience.”  commented Elisha Hill.
