Shooting Success - SI and NZ Open Reps

Lst week, DHS target shooters Piper Benbow and Ryan Booth travelled to Palmerston North for the Target shooting New Zealand North vs South competition. Piper was Selected for the South Island Junior Team narrowly missing out on captain, South Island Womens and the South Island Open team. Ryan was selected for the South Island Junior Team, South Island Mens team and Emergency for the South Island Open team. These teams were selected based on scores from championships shot throughout the season. Piper and Ryan Both shot well in their South Island Junior team match putting them in the top 12 from both the North and South Island teams landing them both in the New Zealand Junior team. Piper shot her South Island Women’s Match next which wasn’t the result she had hoped for. Ryan shot His South Island Mens Match in the afternoon. The Island Open team matches were shot in the late afternoon. Piper worked hard and shot a PB 200.14 out of (200.20) with a total aggregate of 397.26 out of (400.40). Ryan also shot well with a total aggregate of 394.24 Piper and Ryan were both selected for the NZ Open team. All the South Island matches were very close to the North Island scores however the North Island pipped us at the post taking a clean sweep across all five teams. The New Zealand Matches were shot on Sunday morning considering the amount of shooting Piper and Ryan had done the day before they both shot well. The weekend ended on Sunday night with a dinner where presentations were done. Piper was presented with a badge for first time in the South Island Open team and a New Zealand Open Pocket. Ryan received his badges for first time South Island Mens team and first time South Island Open team. He was also presented with his New Zealand Open Team pocket. North vs South is always a great event.
