Welcome to Term 4; nau mai hoki mai

The last term of 2023 is upon us with lots to look forward to. A quick summary of key dates is below

Weeks 1 - 4 are full on finishing internal assessments and preparing for exams for seniors. This year, we extended teaching time to make up for lost days in term 2 so our seniors' last day is Friday 3 November. This is also Gumboot Friday and we'll hold our popular Tabloids event.

Don't forget Labour Day on Monday 23 October!

Leavers' Dinner is Friday 27 October.

We'll be hosting another Bring a Tractor to School day on 30 Oct.

Senior Prizegiving is earlier this year, being Wednesday 1 November.

We then settle into the routine of exams and study leave for seniors.

We have a Staff Only Day for NCEA and curriculum changes on Thursday 16 November, in line with other Canterbury secondary schools. It's then Canterbury Anniversary on Friday 17th. On Monday 20th November, our Kāhui Ako (cluster of Malvern contributing schools) is holding a Staff Only Day and we are asking that students in years 7 & 8 stay at home if possible. This is to allow our year 7&8 teachers to work with their primary school colleagues to develop curriculum and transition practices that will really benefit our students. If any students can't stay at home, we'll be able to supervise them here with other classes.

The last day for junior students is 12 December.
