Senior Premier

Congratulations to all the recipients.

Louise Blakemore gifted this pākē to the kura in 2021 to be presented each year to the Dux.

The whakapapa of the harakeke that was used to create this pākē is from a plant planted at DHS, from the Renee Orchiston National Collection of Harakeke at Manaaki Whenua in Lincoln.

The Poutama (stairway to heaven) pattern used has significant spiritual and educational meanings. The stepped pattern symbolises levels of learning and growth, to represent walking the path of further learning. It symbolises the spiritual power of Tāne Mahuta to climb to the top most heavens to bring back sacred knowledge for Māori and mankind.
