Uniform for all students from 2023

Rationale for school uniform

  • Gives a level playing field, reducing the competition between students over clothing and thereby may reduce costs

  • Ensures a suitable minimum standard of clothing for our school community, for pride in presentation, comfort and hygiene

  • Lets us see clearly who are our students

  • Offers a positive representation of our school in our community

  • Is relatable to workplace expectations of dressing for work


Our current uniform will be available at clearance prices from The Warehouse Rolleston and online until the end of November. There will then be a short break before it will be available from Mainland Uniforms Wairakei Road (and online) at full price. The uniform clearance is a great chance to cheaply buy uniform that can be worn for the next two years so we encourage you to take this offer up.

  • Old or new uniform items

  • Year 13 optional uniform/non-uniform

  • Black plain jackets or school jackets

  • Old or new uniform items

  • Year 13 uniform

  • School jackets required

  • Full new uniform

The DHS Board has decided the following rules for uniform from the start of the 2023

  • Personal effects should be hygienic, safe and inoffensive (health and safety rules apply)

  • Socks plain black above shoeline

  • Thermals okay so long as not visible

  • Shoes plain black

  • Plain navy cap or bucket hat for sun / plain black beanie for cold


The following items should be purchased from the approved DHS uniform supplier (Mainland Uniforms):

  • Tie optional but required to be bought if representing school

  • DHS skort, skirt, shorts or trousers

  • DHS shirt (options available)

  • DHS hoodie/jersey

  • Years 10 - 13 DHS blazer optional but required if representing the school (can be hired)

  • DHS outer jacket (Macpac softshell or puffer with DHS crest)


PE uniform (years 7 - 10):

  • Sports socks

  • Plain black shorts

  • DHS PE T-shirt


NOTES

  1. All uniform items may be worn by any student

  2. Where the application of a rule is in question, the principal is delegated to rule on behalf of the Board

  3. A brochure of the new uniform will be developed and distributed

  4. The uniform is expected to be reviewed again in 2029
