Another (Lego) Brick in the Wall

The new DHS Lego Club has attracted lots of interest from students from Year 7 to Year 13. Come and join us!

After our article in the Dispatch a couple of weeks ago, students have been eager to give up their Wednesday lunchtimes to get creative with Lego. We have now completed two kits: "Thor's Hammer" and the "Boba Fett" helmet of Star Wars. Both of these now proudly sit on display in the school library.

It has been so rewarding seeing kids tearing themselves away from their devices for an hour, enjoying working together and doing something creative. Lego really does seem to attract all age groups - including me!

We have two more Lego kits arriving next week: the International Space Station (ISS) and a 3D model of the Earth.

One very large kit we would really love to buy is the Lego version of the RMS Titanic (minus the iceberg!), the largest Lego kit in existence. At 9,090 pieces, it really is a very large model but one which would amazing on display in the Library. However, at $1,200 the kit is very expensive so the DHS Lego Club will be looking at doing some fundraising to raise the money necessary, probably some time next term. If you have any fundraising ideas, please let me know.
