1TRM - Level 1 Te Reo Māori

Building on language learned in Years 9 and 10, NCEA Level 1 Te Reo Māori teaches students to use written and spoken Te Reo Māori flexibly in a variety of routine situations. Students are expected to demonstrate that they can communicate personal information, facts, and opinions.

Credits: 10 Internal credits and 10 External credits.

1JAP - Level 1 Japanese

NCEA Level 1 Japanese teaches students to use written and spoken Japanese flexibly in a variety of routine situations.

Credits: 10 Internal credits and 10 External credits.

Leads to: Level 2 Japanese

Approx cost: $65.00 Workbook and subscription to Education Perfect. Two outings: UC NCEA Trip and Japanese Language camp.

2TRM - Level 2 Te Reo Māori

This course is designed to build on the foundation knowledge developed in L1 Te Reo Māori.

  • Te Ao o ngā tīpuna / Deeds of the ancestors
  • Te Pōwhiri / The formal welcome
  • Ngā Tūmanakotanga / Aspirations and goals for the future
  • Tangihanga / Funeral rites

Credits: Up to 16 Internal credits and up to 12 External credits.

Leads to: Level 3 Te Reo Māori

2JAP - Level 2 Japanese

Learn to initiate a conversation that may have some unpredictable content.

Credits: 14 Internal credits and 10 External credits.

Leads to: Level 3 Japanese

3TRM - Level 3 Te Reo Māori

This course is designed to extend the student so they are capable of achieving personal independence in the skills of Whakarongo, Kōrero, Mātakitaki, Pānui, Tuhituhi and Whakaatu.

  • Te Whakarauoratanga o Te Reo. Language Revitalisation Schemes.
  • He Kaupapa Tōrangapū. A Political Issue.
  • Waiata/Haka.

Credits: Up to 16 Internal credits and up to 12 External credits.

3JAP - Level 3 Japanese

NCEA Level 3 Japanese teaches students to use language patterns spontaneously and to develop and support their points of view in Japanese.

University Approved.

Credits: 14 Internal credits and 10 External credits.

Leads to: Tertiary Level Japanese.

Approx cost: $20 Workbook (if you don't have it from Year 12, it will cost $65 to buy a workbook and Education Perfect Subscription).
